This article includes a range of impregnated dressings from Drug Tariff [1]. Paraffin Gauze (tulle gras) dressings have not been included, as they are largely obsolete; for over 10 years, virtually every trial conducted has shown a better product for virtually every conceivable use. A new generation of impregnated dressings has found new chemicals, with some therepeutic value, and without the disavantages of the old 'parafin gauze plus ..' dressings. Silver impregnated wound dressings feature in a separate article. Proprietary names are included for convenience; prices are for individual sterile-packed items (unless otherwise stated); these are only a guide to the true cost. Sizes are in cm.
